Objective of the SessionThe objective of the F.Y.B.Com. Orientation Session was to provide the F.Y.B.Com. Students complete information regarding the F.Y.B.Com. (NEP 2020) Programme and give them the history, information and rules and regulations of the College.

The First Year B.Com. Students and a few parents entered classroom no. 404 at 7.00 pm. All the teachers joined in the Orientation session, adhering to the day’s timetable. Prof. Dr. Lata Krishnan, Head, Department of Commerce of the college and incharge of F.Y.B.Com. Regular Examinations made the opening remarks. In her opening remarks, she expressed her joy in starting the event and requested Principal Dr. Eknath Zhrekar to welcome the gathering.

Principal Dr. Eknath Zhrekar welcomed the students and parents to the Orientation Programme. He announced that last year the college was awarded the NAAC ‘A’ Grade with CGPA of 3.25. He explained that we are the only Night College that has a NAAC ‘A’ grade. In-fact, there are many large, reputed Day colleges who still do not have an ‘A’ grade. He went on to say that contrary to the general opinion pertaining to Night Colleges, our college stands out for its quality education, Co-curricular and Extra-curricular activities. He explained that Mahatma Night Degree College of Arts and Commerce started in 1984 as a Night Junior College and in 1986 the Night Degree College of Arts and Commerce commenced. Since 38 years the college has been providing quality education along with NSS, NCC, Cultural, Placement and all the curricular, co-curricular and extracurricular activities in the same manner as provided by reputed Day colleges. He explained that Mahatma Education Society’s Pillai Group of Institutions provide education from KG to PG. The Night College too offers not only the B.Com. Course but also the M.Com. (Advanced Accountancy) course and Ph.D. (Commerce, Business Policy and Administration).

He invited Prof. Dr. Lata Krishnan to make her PowerPoint presentation on the F.Y.B.Com. Semester I (NEP 2020) programme.

With the help of a PowerPoint presentation, Prof. Dr. Lata Krishnan explained in detail regarding the National Education Policy 2020’s verticals and credit system. She gave information pertaining to Internal and External Assessment and ATKT terms. Dr. Lata Krishnan went on to show glimpses of the activities conducted by the college by the NSS Unit, NCC Unit, Cultural Committee, Department of Commerce, Placement Cell and regarding the certificate courses conducted by the college.

All the subject teachers addressed the gathering one-by-one, giving details of their specific subject.

The Q&A session was opened, where students and parents were invited to speak and clear their doubts. As there were no questions, the Orientation Programme came to an end at 8.30 pm.

F.Y.B.Com. Orientation Program 2019-20

F.Y.B.Com. Orientation Program was held on 24th July, 2019 at Room Number 401 after 7.30 p.m. onwards. The purpose of the orientation program was to provide all necessary information to the first year students. Asst. Prof. Chanramohan Verma talked about discipline issues in the college premises. Further, he explained the college policy about cell phone use. Tutorial classes and timings of business communication subject were informed by Verma sir. Asst. Prof. Harsh Shukla explained the functioning of NSS Unit of the college. The activities of the cultural committee were informed by him. In addition, he spoke about the coming friendship day celebration on 3rd August. Principal Dr. Padma Rangan gave information about college examination, ethical behaviour expected from the students. In order to impart industry oriented skills Mr. Vyavhare from EduBridge Learning Pvt. Ltd. were invited. Mr. Vyavhare talked about programs in Banking and Financial organised by their firm. He appealed to all the students to join the program which is of 2 months duration and completely free for underprivileged students. He further promised job assistant after completion of the program. Dr. Eknath Zhrekar spoke about indoor sports activities of the college. Dr. Lata Krishnan informed the students about the functioning of students council. Further, she explained the election procedure for students council. Orientation program concluded at 9 p.m.
