Objective
  • To compete with students of other colleges in cultural activities.

  • To raise the bar and meet the high standards of proficiency set up by the Mumbai University Youth Festival.

  • To appreciate and experience cultural activities, art and literary activities in its purest form.

The circular for the MU Youth Festival 2025-26 was circulated in the students’ groups on 18th July 2025. It was ensured that the new batch of F.Y.B.Com. Had come in, allowing for participation from all three classes F.Y.B.Com., S.Y.B.Com., and T.Y.B.Com. The students of our college were glad to participate in the Zonal Round for Zone II of the 58th Inter-Collegiate / Institute / Department Youth Festival Academic Year-2025-26. A separate MU Youth Festival WhatsApp group was created for communication with participants and for online registration to the festival portal.

12 students of the college enrolled for 3 different events organized at the MU Youth Festival 2025-26, Performing Art Events organized at the MU Youth Festival 2025-26. In the Performing Art events students participated in Classical Dance (solo) Kathak, Indian Folk Dance (Group), Mimicry (solo) Mahatma Night Degree College of Arts and Commerce participated in the Zone II rounds of the festival comprising all Central Sub-urban colleges of Mumbai and Navi Mumbai Colleges affiliated to University of Mumbai.

Live classical instrumental accompanists Tabla professional, Mr. Pranav Bhalerao and Harmonium professional Mr. Ganesh Prabhu, were brought in for the folk dance. Beautiful costumes and accessories were arranged for the dancers. The Cultural Committee got busy organizing registrations and rehearsals for the events.

Sachin Sarvagod Sir, the college dance master and choreographer, choreographed and set the dance performances for the Indian folk dance and Kathak Classical Dance. The college was filled with the excitement and joy of dance and music. It was amazing to see how the students performed difficult dance steps and moved ahead one-day-at-a-time after each rigorous practice session. Sachin Sarvagod Sir put in a lot of effort to choreograph and train the students to achieve a high level of proficiency and to help compete fiercely in the qualifying rounds.

The Kathak Classical dance performance was a stellar performance by Manisha Gaikwad of F.Y.B.Com. She swirled and swayed beautifully in the classical Kathak moves and left the audience spell-bound.

The mimicry artist Dabariya Pukhraj Raju of T.Y.B.Com. Prepared a new script for the performance. He added new punch lines and rehearsed in college. The students of the college and the Cultural Committee Chairperson gave him feedback, helping him edit and sharpen his performance. He performed confidently at the event.

The Folk Dance group led by Kavita Khorwal of T.Y.B.Com. was composed of students from F.Y.B.Com., S.Y.B.Com. and T.Y.B.COM. They performed the Dangi Dance. The Dangi dance is a vibrant and energetic folk dance performed by the Dangi tribe, primarily found in the Dang region of Gujarat, India. It is a celebration of tribal unity and their connection with nature, often performed during festivals like Holi, fairs, and rituals. The dance is characterized by its rhythmic movements, synchronized steps, and the formation of human pyramids by the dancers. The students danced to the folk music with challenging steps, making tall pyramid formations. Their costumes and accessories were beautiful, and the group performed enthusiastically and confidently.

It was the second time our college participated in the Mumbai University Youth Festival. Principal Dr. Eknath Zhrekar encouraged the participants and supported and guided them, ensuring that all their needs were met. Cultural Committee Leader Prem Monapuram of T.Y.B.Com. Supported by Cultural Committee Chairperson Professor Dr. Lata Krishnan coordinated and facilitated the registration and participation process.

Students had a good experience and learned to compete fiercely and sportingly in the most prestigious and popular Mumbai University Youth Festival. They have made many beautiful memories.
